Google Assistant will soon be able to “talk” in 30 more languages, and will understand commands on two different languages seamlessly. Additionally, the update will make it possible to perform multiple tasks with just one command.

The news comes days before the launch of the Mobile World Congress, which begins in Barcelona next week. Google’s digital assistant now understands eight languages, but by the end of 2018 the number should increase significantly, reaching 95 percent of all supported Android phones.

The assistant currently responds in eight languages by text on Android phones: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Multilingual support will allow people to speak to Google Assistant in more than one language. The first supported will be English, French and German. The Routines function will tie a sequence of actions only by assigning a single command.

For example, if you just say Hey Google, I’m home, Google Assistant will turn on the lights, read your new messages and play your favorite music. Since debuting in 2016, Google Assistant has reached Google Home, Android phones and tablets, Android Auto, Android Wear and PixelBook laptops.

“Android users are all around the world, so from the start, our goal has been to bring the Assistant to as many people, languages, and locations as possible. The Assistant is already available in eight languages, and by the end of the year it will be available in more than 30 languages, reaching 95 percent of all eligible Android phones worldwide. In the next few months, we’ll bring the Assistant to Danish, Dutch, Hindi, Indonesian, Norwegian, Swedish and Thai on Android phones and iPhones, and we’ll add more languages on more devices throughout the year.” Post from: GizBrain.
