Apple has requested and obtained permission from the Eurasian Economic Commission to sell iPad models in the territory of its member states. Regulatory approval usually means that new hardware is on the way and products should not be delayed for more than a month.

The document submitted by Apple describes iOS 11 tablets with model numbers A1893 and A1954 which currently not match any existing iPads. Rumors of new iPad models appear periodically, as Apple has the habit of releasing improved versions from March to September.

The iPad mini 4, released in September 2015, is among the company’s older models, but the 9.7-inch iPad of March 2017 seems more likely to get an update. It is believed that Apple will release a cheaper version of $259 to bring more sales of its tablets.

Apple to launch new iPad with Face ID at the end of the year

If the trend continues, the new iPads would be revealed within the next several weeks, which would be months before either WWDC 2018 or the inevitable iPhone event this fall. It is posible Apple to hold a special press event in March to show off the new tablets, but it seems far more likely that Apple will simply roll out the refreshed iPad models without any special announcements, as it has on multiple occasions in the past.

In the beta version of iOS 11.3, we recently saw references to a still mysterious “mew iPad,” which is supposed to be iPad Pro with a new design and Face ID feature similar to the iPhone X. Post from: GizBrain
