Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi announced that it is starting to develop MIUI 10, the new version of their Android-based custom operating system. The news was announced at the annual MIUI 2018 conference held in China on January 23rd.

The company will focus on developing artificial intelligence and machine learning in the next version of its software. This was shared by Hong Feng, vice president and co-founder of Xiaomi, who is also the head of the MIUI department.

In previous versions, the company paid more attention to system stability, smooth operation and battery life. Xiaomi sets these new targets as part of the plan to get closer to leading manufacturers such as Apple, Google and Huawei.

Feng has said before that his company will seek to increase its presence on the global market in the coming months. Currently, MIUI has 280 million active users, with 56 million (around 20%) outside of China.
