The forthcoming Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series is one of the most anticipated new releases in 2018. The Internet giant has already announced that it has several seasons in the series, and although almost nothing is known about its plot, Sir Ian McKellen is more than enthusiastic to return to Gandalf’s magic robes.

During his interview in Graham Norton show, McKellen was asked if he would be angry if he saw another actor in the emblematic role. “What do you mean, another Gandalf?” the 78-year-old actor said, feigning indignation.

“I haven’t said ‘yes,’ because I haven’t been asked, but are you suggesting someone else is going to play it? Gandalf is 7,000 years old, so I’ not too old for it.”

Unlike him, however, his colleague Andy Serkis officially announced that he had finished the series and had no interest in participating in the TV series. “My time in Middle-earth was great, but I do not intend to go on,” he says.

It’s Official Amazon is making a series based on ‘The Lord of the Rings’

As Entertainment Weekly reported last month, Amazon closed a multi-season production commitment to adapt the works of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic “The Lord of the Rings” for TV. Amazon is reportedly working closely with the Tolkien Estate and Trust to make a worthy adaptation of his famed story.
