Firefox released its latest Firefox Quantum browser in beta. The company says it is twice as fast as the original Firefox six months ago.

Firefox Quantum has an elegant user interface customizable with the toolbar. It also outperforms Google Chrome in the browser speed test. The new browser also includes Pocket recommendations on which sites to browse when opening each new tab. There are other features like night mode as well as free add-ons.

“It’s fast. Really fast. Firefox Quantum is over twice as fast as Firefox from 6 months ago, built on a completely overhauled core engine with brand new technology stolen from our advanced research group, and graced with a beautiful new look designed to get out of the way and let you do what you do best: surf a ton of pages, open a zillion tabs, all guilt free because Firefox Quantum uses less memory than the competition. Your computer will thank you.”

The biggest advantage of Quantum vs. Chrome is the smaller use of RAM – something that Google has been criticized for the years. By opening more tabs in Quantum, it takes less memory than opening multiple tabs in Chrome.

Quantum is an open source volunteer project with about 700 developers contributing to the code. It took Firefox a year to finish the project. Check out the new Firefox browser on Windows, Mac or Linux. The new appearance will also be available on iOS and Android. Post from: GizBrain
