Report: Redesigned iPad Pros will gain Face ID, debut 2018
Apple is working on a new design for the next iPad model. It is expected that the Home button on the device will drop in favor of the new Face ID technology introduced on the iPhone X. Bloomberg reports that the new generation of iPad will include a screen size similar to the 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
It is likely to be presented “later in the following year.” We’ll see improvements in Apple Pen too. Removing the huge decorative frames from above and below, Apple will be able to embed a larger screen into a smaller (or the same) body that will be convenient for all users.
Apple is unlikely to start using the OLED screen for the iPad in 2018 because of “technical and financial considerations.” That’s why the company will stick to the LCD technology for at least another year.
Samsung uses high-resolution OLED screens for its Android tablets, but these products are not sold in the same volume as the iPad. So the “limitation” is probably due to the fact that Samsung will not be able to produce enough iPad screens.
Given that the new iPad model is about a year away from release, the plans could change due to supply and manufacturing constraints on Face ID components, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public.
Like the iPhone X, the new iPad is expected to include a faster processor and a custom Apple graphics processing unit, one of the people said. Apple is also preparing a new version of its Apple Pencil stylus and new software tools for using the stylus, the person said. Post from: GizBrain.
