Sony’s New Robot Dog Aibo is now Available For Pre-Order In Japan
Sony’s robot dog called Aibo was first introduced in 1999. Sony says the new Aibo “can form an emotional bond with members of the household while providing them with love, affection, and the joy of nurturing and raising a companion.”
Now Sony decides to release a heir who will be able to move more smoothly thanks to his 22 axes and will be able to deliver more realistic sounds.
The dog responds to voice commands and will be able to learn what makes his owner happy. Aibo is powered by a quad-core processor, has LTE and Wi-Fi modules, a number of sensors, a gyroscope, a speakerphone and four microphones. The battery lasts two hours, which is a pretty short time for a “game” with a pet.
Pre-orders for the new robot dog are launched tonight at Sony’s online store in Japan, with a price of 198,000 yen or (about $1,739), with deliveries beginning on January 11th. There is a mobile Aibo app for iOS and Android available to manage the dog remotely. You will also be able to buy new tricks from the Aibo Store.
