Google Home Surpasses Amazon Alexa In 3,000 Question Quiz
Better don’t judge the qualities of a smart home assistant by his sales alone – this is one of the conclusions of the 360i marketing company as a result of a survey of the qualities of Google Home and Amazon Echo.
Although Amazon Alexa is a much more popular and better selling product, it turns out that the chances of Google Home to respond to users requests correctly is six times bigger.
Currently, Amazon Echo has 70% of the market for home voice-assistants, but the practical test reveals a slightly different picture. In it Amazon Alexa and Google Home answer a total of 3,000 questions.
One possible explanation is the difference in Google’s and Amazon’s approach to powering their home assistants. Google uses the Knowledge Graph database, which is compiled from the search engine results for the past five years.
Meanwhile, Amazon usually refers to information from its partners. Google Home is also more receptive when it comes to simple commands with numbers.
Recently Apple introduced the HomePod, its rival to Amazon’s Echo and Google Home at the 2017 WWDC. Apple users will be able to add a third option, when Apple release the HomePod in December which is powered by Siri.
As usual, Apple’s product will be the most expensive ($349) versus Amazon Echo ($179) or Google Home ($129), and we really won’t know what it will actually do until it’s released.
