Following the example of Samsung’s Galaxy S7, the new LG G6 will probably have a glass back. The choice of such material will be first on G-series, which has so far mostly different materials on the backs.

For example, LG G4 had plastic back, while the current LG G5 has a metallic. The use of glass will defiantly deliver more elegant and expensive look of the new flagship, but it’s not the only reason. Obviously South Korean company is considering the glass back to be able to offer wireless charging as a function.

Wireless charging for some time is a characteristic of some more expensive Android models. Samsung for example using it from Galaxy S6 and it seems the other major South Korean company does not want to lag behind too much.

The decision for glass back panel is logical since the metal makes wireless charging much more complicated. But it may also have disadvantages, such as the possibility of a removable battery that is otherwise the traditional for the G-series. The modular design also will not be relevant, but we have already learned that the company will abandon him. Post from: GizBrain
