Jawbone

The company Jawbone, which is among the leading names in the field of portable technology, intends to close its business with fitness trackers.

According to the sources “familiar with the matter”, the Jawbone has end the production of its UP fitness trackers and has sold all available units to an external distributor.

The reason appears to be financial, as according to inside information, “the company has had problems with the distribution of the devices and was forced to get rid of them, selling them at a discount, just to be able to keep his business.”

Sources also said Jawbone has discontinued its Bluetooth speaker business and is trying to sell its remaining inventory.

Jawbone has been on the market for wearable devices almost five years, making it one of the earliest players in this still young business. It offers three basic models fitness trackers, respectively UP2, UP3 and UP4. Lately, however, the company lags behind the leader Fitbit.
