At least part of the mystery about the next game console of Nintendo has revealed, at the announcement of the latest financial results the Japanese company confirmed that the system known by his code name NX, will have its global premiere in March 2017.

The company has been unable to come close to matching the more than 100 million Wii consoles that it sold since 2006. The Wii revolutionized the video game industry with motion control, a concept that was quickly adopted and then bested by the competition. The Wii U’s tablet-like control failed to capture customers’ imaginations in the same way.

Another disappointing news that came from Tokyo, is related to the postponement of the premiere of the highly anticipated new game in the series The Legend of Zelda. First it was announced during E3 2014 for Wii U as exclusive and was originally scheduled for 2015 and then for 2016. Now we learn that the game will be released next spring and will have a version for Wii U, and NX.

Though the NX will be hitting shelves in less than a year, details are still scarce about what the platform actually is. Although it is assumed to be a follow-up to the company’s underperforming Wii U, a report from the Wall Street Journal in October suggested that the device would be a hybrid between a home console and a mobile games console, to sit alongside the New Nintendo 3DS.
