DJI Phantom 4 Camera Drone Can Fly Itself – (video)
DJI presented its newest drone Phantom 4, which is smarter than ever. DJI Phantom 4 is the first consumer quadcopter drone, which can itself correct trajectory to avoid obstacles on his way, giving him a semblance of autonomy.
This level of autonomy is largely due to the two additional cameras and two ultrasonic sensors built into it. If you try to bump 4 Phantom in the wall, it will stop alone. He even is able to decide whether you should speed up or slow down your flight to avoid obstacles, including moving people!
Of course, you can always disable this autonomous mode, if you are confident in your pilot skills. DJI Phantom 4 comes with a “sports mode”, which allows him to fly at 72 km/h – with 10 km/h more than the previous model Phantom 3.
Another feature called TapFly, allows flying in preset scheme so you no need to worry about unstable video footage. From DJI emphasize that their unmanned drone is 5 times more stable than the previous version.
A new feature called ActiveTrack, will be especially attractive for videographers. When you make a circle around the object on the screen the drone will track and follow this object. You can sit, relax and make adjustment of the distance that you prefer.
The new Phantom weighs 1380 grams, can operate up to 6,000 meters above sea level, the duration of the flight is about 28 minutes. From DJI ensure the work of the drone at temperatures ranging from 0° C to 40° C.
The remote has a maximum range of five kilometers, but the recommended maximum is 3.5 km. Its sensors can sense obstacles from 15 meters away. His camera is 12 MP and can make UHD videos with a resolution of 4096 × 2160.
As for the photos, the camera has aperture of f/2.8 with a 22 mm lens, which is equivalent to 35 mm. Light Sensitivity ISO range is 100 – 1600 (for photos) and 100-3200 (for video), the shutter speed is between 8 seconds and 1/8000 of a second. Among the options is making HDR image.
DJI Phantom 4 will sell for $1,399, and sales begin on March 15. It’s available for preorder through DJI.com as well as Apple.com, and DJI says customers will start receiving these orders on March 15. After the end of March will be will be available from other retailers.
