According to a report on Business Insider Apple tested MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) – telephone service, which will be led by Apple, but will work over wireless networks employed by company like AT&T and Sprint in the US.

There had been indications that Apple is interested in launching MVNO, but now the they reported that the company has actually begun testing such a service in the US. It is also reported that Apple is working on deals to begin tests in Europe. The report states that the service can switch between multiple operators for better customer service.

Even Apple is currently testing MVNO service, that its full launch is off time of at least five or even more years. The report quoted sources from telecoms, indicating that the start is inevitable.

With the announcement of MVNO Apple would follow Google’s previously announced Project Fi in the US, who currently works for the owners of Nexus 6. Google needs to expand its service to more (or all) Android smartphones because MVNO will give a huge advantage the company, as it will allow to control the Android experience and timely dissemination of updates. Apple don’t have this problem, but also can improve the experience to work with the iPhone and, of course, to generate robust revenues.
