If you read the paper edition of the book, you are limited to one or several fonts that are used in printing. The situation for electronic books is fundamentally different, because there we have a choice between dozens of fonts which can match any taste. Their goal is not only to respond to our personal preferences but also be very comfortable to read. Now Google introduced a new special type of electronic books font, called Literata. The company said that it is designed specifically for Google Play Books. This means that you will see it in all the books we receive through the service, and judging by the preview above, it is nice minimalist serif font. Literata replaces the previous Droid Serif font by default. Google actually first released this font in Google Play Books version 3.4.5 earlier this month, but the company decided to make the change now widely known. Google says the new font is suitable for long reading. “Font aims to establish a recognizable visual identity for native eBook Google application and stylistic to distinguish itself from other eReader competitors.
