Wolfram Research, the company behind Wolfram Alpha, has released a new tool for identifying pictures. Web application that is available on mobile and desktop platforms, using new AI system to answer the question “what’s in this photo?”. Suffice it to upload your selected picture and wait, then Wolfram Language Image Identification Project will tell you what’s on it. Or not quite. The system is still not perfect, but is doing surprisingly quickly and accurately with most images of animals, plants, nature, objects and places of everyday life. Our tests showed that the more complex and custom-composed images, Wolfram made some mistakes, but I will leave you to judge for yourself. You can test the application here.

The new functionality is open to developers and as representatives from Wolfram will be extremely useful in creating applications that process and analyze large volumes of images.
