The super secret laboratory of Google X working on new battery
The theme of the batteries is among the latest in tech circles in recent years. If the information on the Wall Street Journal is true, perhaps the revolution will come from Google. According to the material of the WSJ on the project works a small team of four people, who in 2013 has shifted its focus on testing batteries from external producers to task to find new technology. The aim is to create new batteries that company to use in smartphones, tablets and smart accessories. The team was formed back in 2012, and management is entrusted to Dr. Ramesh Bardey, former expert from Apple. One of the concepts on which the work of Google X, resembles the one in which by Dyson invested 15 million Dollars – batteries (solid-state), in which liquid chemicals are replaced with lithium electrodes. This can result in small and thin batteries. In the case of Google, if the technology proves successful, can be used for bending products. For us, the consumers, remains only to wait, but do not throw too much hope – all work is in progress at the moment and is far from application in consumer products. Google X, is a semi-secret facility run by Google dedicated to making major technological advancements. It is located about a half mile from Google’s corporate headquarters, the Googleplex, in Mountain View, California. Work at the lab is overseen by Sergey Brin, one of Google’s co-founders, while scientist and entrepreneur Astro Teller (Captain of Moonshots) directs day-to-day activities. Teller says that they aim to improve technologies by a factor of 10, and to develop “science fiction-sounding solutions.” The lab began in 2010 with the development of a self-driving car.
