A team of scientists from Stanford University developed a new technology that could lead to the entry of a lot cheaper processors for mobile gadgets.

Their idea is very attractive and consists in the use of the gallium arsenide instead of silicon, which for decades was the main component in the manufacture of semiconductors. In turn, this material has several key advantages over it, such as the fact that electrons can move much faster therein. Thus gallium arsenide ensure a much higher speed of the processors created with it, but also the transmission of high frequency radio signals.

New technology scientists significantly reduces the cost of production, but will also allow devices to it to have flexible form factors. Last but not least it should be noted that this material has the potential to find use in solar panels as significantly improve their efficiency. We can only hope that this innovation will find a quick place in next generation smartphones and tablets of the leading companies.
