Currently, Microsoft embeds Cortana in Windows 10, which will debut later this year, but most likely the voice assistant will be available for mobile operating systems of Google and Apple, along with the PC expansion.

In an interview with Reuters Eric Horvitz, managing director of Microsoft Research, said that the company plans more Cortana releases later this year. “This kind of technology that can read and understand email, will play a central role in the deployment of next Cortana”, says Horwitz.

Microsoft is currently developing a more sophisticated version of the assistant, code-named Einstein, which pulls data from artificial intelligence. Although not many details on Einstein, report Reuters becomes clear that this is an attempt to raise awareness of Cortana and its ability to automate even more tasks.

Microsoft’s move to release Cortana for iOS and Android is not a big surprise. The software giant has consistently shown that he is ready to bring the best features of Windows, to compete with foreign platforms inside. While Cortana is currently function for Windows Phone, and soon for Windows 10, the small number of users will help improve its functionality.

This is a natural part of the ongoing transformation of Microsoft, which returns to its roots software applications and services that run on any device.
