In the next flagship smartphone Lumia series will be implemented a number of innovative technologies. It is reported that Microsoft is working on iris scanner for Lumia 940, in contrast to many other manufacturers of smartphones that use biometric identification for fingerprint scanning. Iris scanner is based on imaging technology in the near-infrared range, therefore, works in low light conditions.

The benefit of using an iris scanner is that the user does not need to touch the sensor and to make unnecessary movements. Negative aspect, however, is that the scanner does not work if you wear sunglasses.

Another innovative feature of the new 940 should be a port for a docking station. But information about it it’s a little. If the data is confirmed, the Lumia 940 will be the first Windows-enabled smartphone docking station for connecting additional accessories or work as a stand-alone computer such as a mobile device Motorola Atrix.

Special sensors and software will determine which hand a person uses your smartphone. This is another feature of the Lumia 940.

As for hardware, the new smartphone will get a chip Qualcomm, although previously reported that Microsoft will use Snapdragon 805, made on 28-nanometer technology. Alternatively, as seen Snapdragon 810 (20 nm).

It is expected that the smartphone Lumia 940 to be equipped with  20-30 megapixels camera with three LED flash.

Microsoft has confirmed that the flagship Lumia smartphone will be based on Windows 10 and will be released after the operating system is ready for mass use.
