According to the report, Apple is going to use Intel chips in the new iPhone models in 2016. The newest Intel 7360 LTE modem must be present on the board of the future smartphones from Apple. It will replace the chips Qualcomm, but according to the information that will be limited to certain regions.

Intel 7360 is able to provide speeds of 450Mbps (megabits per second) download and supports LTE Category 9/10. According to Venture Beat, engineers Apple’s Cupertino travel frequently to Germany to work with Intel’s new chipset.

Intel’s modem will be used in Asia and Latin America, and the US will probably continue to use chips of Qualcomm. Sources say that the reason for this change of modems are degraded business relationship between Qualcomm and Apple.

Although there is an almost complete monopoly of the PC market, Intel still can not make a successful transition to the mobile segment, but if used their modem in the iPhone will not only bring increased revenue for the company, but probably new customers from the mobile industry.
