Audi unveiled the second generation of its supercar. The new Audi R8 describes as best as possible what “evolutionary design”. The front is reminiscent of that of the first generation of the supercar, but it is “sharper” and aggressive look. Such are the radiator grille, air intakes and headlights that can be equipped with laser lights.

A broken lines side appear more dynamic appearance of the car, there is a massive and different colored side air intake.

Rear also has a pretty hefty appearance, as are tail lights with LED lights, built-in is automatically retractable spoiler and the two trapezoidal tailpipes is a large diffuser.

Highest R8 Plus version is a standard carbon spoiler, this version is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, while the base version comes with 19-inch.

As a finishing touch, rear window provides a wonderful view to the “fiery heart” of the new Audi R8.

The engine of the car is 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 FSI. The basic version of the unit is rated at 540 hp and 540 Nm of torque, while the V10 Plus version with 610 hp and 560 Nm.

The standard version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h and more powerful version of the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 330 km/h.

Audi’s managed to keep the average fuel consumption within reasonable limits, it is respectively 11.8 liters per 100 kilometers for the base model and 12.4 liters per 100 km for the R8 Plus.

The new Audi R8 comes with updated 7-speed S tronic automatic transmission with two clutches, which has three automatic modes and the option for manual gear changes.

System for all-wheel drive – quattro sends up to 100% of torque to the rear wheels, but if necessary clutch may reassign to the front tires – back to 100%.

Audi’s supercar has a rear differential with mechanical lock.

The second generation of the R8 is made of lightweight and durable materials such as steel, aluminum and carbon fiber and weighs 1555 kg. R8 Plus version is even lighter weight as it is only 1454 kg.

The interior of the new Audi R8 is the company philosophy of the future and in place of the mechanical instrument cluster is located 12.3-inch digital panel. Upholstery salon offers a choice of premium leather. Audi R8 its equipped with a 500-watt audio system Bang & Olufsen.

Audi R8 there will be e-tron electric version that is powered by two electric motors with a total output of 462 hp and 920 Nm of torque. Battery capacity is 92 kWh, as a single charge the car can travel 450 kilometers. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds and top speed will be limited to either 210 or 250 km/h.

Thanks to the CCS full charge of the e-tron version will takes less than two hours.

The new Audi R8 will make its public debut in Geneva auto show and to reach the markets – this summer.

Prices start from €165,000 for the standard model and from €187,400 for R8 Plus version. The cost of the electric e-tron model has not yet been disclosed.
