7-year-old managed to hack the Wi-Fi router in just 10 minutes; this is part of a campaign for the VPN provider in the UK to raise awareness of the issues of Internet security.

The company provided the girl laptop short video guide and goal – to hack one of 270,000 points with public Wi-Fi internet access in the UK, wrote Esset.

Following the instructions in the video, the child stole virtual information for exactly 10 minutes and 54 seconds, performing attack type “Man in the Middle” (“Intermediary”). In this type of attack between the Internet connection and the end user stands third party, usually a cyber criminal which can very easily steal user information such as eavesdropping network.

Cybersecurity experts note that the results of the experiment are disturbing, but not surprising. According to them, the elderly should be more careful about security on the internet and to adhere to the rules, especially when connecting to an untrusted network.

Research shows that 59% of people use public networks once a week, without thinking about its security. Worse thing is that 31% of them use this type of networks for sending e-mails and personal documents, and targets 19% are banking network.
