CEO of Samsung puts an end to rumors of a deal with BlackBerry
Less than a week Reuters reported that Samsung in talks to buy a BlackBerry. Several hours later, the Canadian producer denied rumors through official announcement and today that made by Samsung. JK Shin, executive director of the Korean giant, told the Wall Street Journal, that Samsung Mobile “is willing to work with the BlackBerry and formed a partnership, but not to acquire the company”. We recall that in November announced a partnership for use of BES12 as part of Samsung KNOX, which Shin clearly wants to strengthen and expand. BES12 act as a way to secure internal networks, whether users are using Android, iOS or BB devices. Shin added that Samsung is pleased with the progress of KNOX, and the role the BlackBerry is important for long-term development of the service.
Although by Reuters say they have seen documents that clearly point to the deal, most likely it would be to work on corporate services. At present, BlackBerry holds about 44,000 patents and most of them are for functions related to security. Undoubtedly strengthening of partnership will benefit both companies, but whether the acquisition is really out plans for BlackBerry and Samsung?
