Tim Cook: Our new plant will be the most “green” building in the world
The new headquarters of Apple, or Campus 2 is not yet ready – construction is level ground. Even Steve Jobs said it will be one of the greenest buildings in the world, but Tim Cook is now convinced that this will be so. Before the NGO Climate Week NYC he says Campus 2 will overtake Bullit Center – the most environmentally friendly building in the world at the moment.
Campus 2 will be powered by 100% renewable sources. Apple does not rely on electricity for Cupertino, which is used only in case of failure. Over 75% of the year the building will use natural ventilation and air conditioning systems will not work. Apple plans to plant 7,000 trees within and around the plant and to install 300 charging stations for electric cars, as used by the majority of employees.
