Intel wants to completely change our idea of the power of modern hardware devices with the new generation Xeon Phi processor supercomputers. The code name is “Knights Landing” and it is the fastest chip ever created by the company, which can reach a maximum throughput of over 3 teraflops. Intel used two unique technologies in the creation of architecture that after a few years they can find a place in our laptops or computers.

The first one says OmniScale, which optimizes the “Knights Landing” and take full advantage of its power, thus ensuring ultra-fast speed data transfer. The second of these is a new alignment method of memory that the company believes that there are enough advantages to replace conventional DDR modules we use in computers and servers.

The combination of these is the reason “Knights Landing” is almost three times faster than its predecessor, which has 61 cores and performance of 1.2 teraflops. The first supercomputer that will work with the new Intel architecture will use an impressive 9300 “Knights Landing” processor and is located in the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center in California in 2016.

The architecture has cores used by Merrifield and Bay Trail chips and is manufactured with an advanced 14-nanometer technology Intel, which will reduce the size and improve the speed and energy consumption. The company did not reveal how many cores will have at its fastest processor to date, but stated that he would be more than the 61 cores on its predecessor. Powerful processors have memory chips from a new generation who are 15 times faster than DDR3 DRAM models and uses three less space, but consume three times less energy than DDR4.
