Recently announced a software platform of Google, Android Wear for drifting (wearables) devices attracted great interest, especially with incredibly smart projected clock Moto 360. However, potential buyers and developers may have missed a very important point, namely that all devices with Android Wear will not work as stand-alone smart gadgets. They will need to connect to the Android smartphone or tablet to perform most of its functions. Of course time and other basic information will be available in every situation.

In a recent video in the “Ask a Dev” YouTube channel, Android engineer Sagar Seth explains that Android Wear will allow developers to add support for existing applications, which means that they will be able to create custom graphs and alerts which will be shown on the small screen smart watches. Or in other words, smart watches with Android Wear will just visualization platforms and will have full stand-alone applications that can be stored in their memory. They will only show notifications and beautiful graphics and will require to be connected to a smartphone that actually will work application.

This is actually a smart move by Google, because this smart watches with Android Wear will save system resources and battery and you will not have to follow the smartphone model, in which the device is stored and executed applications. Ultimately, you do not have to be smart watches successive powerful mobile computers. And being just a platform for visualization, it will “save” smart watches with Android Wear rapidly aging there is no need to update for a long time because their hardware will be used solely for visualization.
