Apple is negotiating for the purchase of Japanese chipmaker Renesas
According to the Nikkei, Apple negotiating with the Japanese company Renesas Electronics intending to buy part of it. Said subdivision Renesas SP Drivers joint venture with Sharp and Powerchip and develops chipsets for smartphone display, and for their technology suggest that it can be used to improve image quality and battery life.
According to Apple now seeking to acquire the entire control package of shares of Renesas (55%) in the company for about 479 million dollars. If the transaction consists, 240 employees in Japan are expected to remain at work. 25% of Renesas SP Drivers are owned by Sharp, and the remaining 20% are held by Powerchip. Sharp is expected to sell its entire stake to Apple, if the U.S. company made a similar request.
