1. OneNote is the perfect “digital notebook”

If you want to make your notes look incredibly beautiful or organize them the way you would a paper notebook, powerful and flexible formatting capabilities of OneNote are right for you. You can insert images, documents, videos and other directly to your notes, so all the information you need is just a click away. If you insert a spreadsheet Excel, you will get a preview of charts and graphs directly into your notes. OneNote menus include tools for formatting text as Quick Styles (headlines, the bottom line and so on) as well as a very useful tool “Format Painter” (“Format Painter”), thanks to which you copy and apply formatting. You can also customize how it looks each note: background color, line, and page size. Or if you can apply different templates to make your notes really unique. And in the desktop version of Windows, you can draw or handwritten notes.

2 . Evernote is more “digital file”

Evernote, on the other hand, is more like a “digital file”. It has a simple and boring user interface, but it sometimes proved more favorable option if your goal is simply to record your thoughts. With Evernote, you can quickly create notes, highlight them, share them and set a reminder for something. And OneNote will take time before you find out how you can share notes. You have to right click and copy the link to the page with the note, or use the email button. Evernote also adds useful metadata to your notes, such as where you make them. Evernote is like a database for everything you’ve ever reserved. Not only can you filter your notes, but they can also appear in your Google searches – a new feature that is quite useful and attractive. In other words, Evernote is a better option for collecting random information and rapid finding later.

3 . Integration with third-party applications

To OneNote has added support for third-party applications, so you can do things like send articles from a particular site to OneNote or create pages in a text message to OneNote via IFTTT. Other applications include OneNote LiveScribe, News360, and Feedly. On the other hand, since Evernote in the beginning was built as a web-based service API for developers, you can add more applications to the service to improve its performance.

4. OneNote is the better choice if you use your mobile device

OneNote Mobile applications are what users expect of them while mobile apps are Evernote more developers as they think they should be. Both perspectives create a big difference. Evernote retains much of the functionality of desktop applications while OneNote is the better choice if you are using your mobile device.
