First impressions of the new flagship HTC One (M8)
If we have managed to meet the new flagship of HTC during his performance in London and are ready to share first impressions before more extensive review in the coming days, as we already have the test unit from him.
Taiwanese company continued to pay close attention to the materials and construction of models of the highest class and M8 is a clear example of this. Again, there is unibody aluminum casing that now covers all aspects of the phone, with the exception of the top and HTC allegedly used a special technology to be able to integrate antennas for wireless functions and they are not influenced by the solid metal.
Build quality is excellent and the device feels like a solid block of smooth flowing lines and smooth surfaces and definitely a step forward compared to HTC One (M7). Slot nano SIM card is placed on the left and on the right we find that for microSD, which accepts cards of up to 128GB. Headphone port is now located on the underside of the phone to interface microUSB.
Display quality is again impressive with high viewing angles, brightness and color reproduction, but it is characteristic of all high-class company. From what I saw so far, we can conclude that productivity is higher interface that is attributable to the Snapdragon processor with a frequency of 801 2,3 GHz. Interestingly, the incidence in Asia will be 2,5 GHz – the same as the Galaxy S5.
Sense interface changes also make a good impression and they look out of place by increasing opportunities for personalization. Among the new options shall use themes to change the colors of various interface elements, adding more content BlinkFeed etc.
More will share the test phone, but we liked the new feature Motion Launch to launch the various features and applications even when the phone is closed application. It works very well, including the option to wake up the screen by double tapping on it.
Regarding the camera also changes, although the main camera retains its resolution of 4MP and lost feature optical stabilization. However supplemented by a second 2 megapixel camera, which the company described as a depth sensor that records data on the depth of the scene and then allows editing of images in an interesting way. There are also improved interface with options for manual control of different settings.
